Dr. Mary Lee Morrison and Katie BreslinDr. Mary Lee Morrison is the president and founding director of Pax Educare, Inc., the Connecticut Center for Peace Education, located in Hartford, CT. Pax Educare provides resources, consulting, research and community dialoguing in promoting the philosophy, processes and skills necessary to build a more peaceful world. A former practicing clinical social worker and family therapist for over twenty years, Dr. Morrison has been providing institutional and organizational consulting on issues related to peace and conflict for the last fourteen years. Dr. Morrison is an adjunct faculty member at Saint Joseph College and Central Connecticut State University. Her teaching and research focuses on peace, peace education, global perspectives and foundations of education. Previously she taught in the schools of education at the University of Hartford and the University of Connecticut. The author of numerous journal articles and several curricula, Dr. Morrison is the co-author (with Ian Harris) of Peace Education (McFarland and Co. 2003) and of Elise Boulding: a Life in the Cause of Peace (McFarland and Co. 2005). Katherine (Katie) is a recent graduate of Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, CT where she majored in Sociology and minored in International Studies and Political Science. As an intern at Pax Educare, Inc.-The CT Center for Peace Education in Hartford, Katie’s research focus has been on the campaign to create a Department of Peace. Over the last four years she has also done research on power structure and poverty, social movements and communities and organizing. Katie is the webmaster of Pax Educare and was a Student Website Consultant at Saint Joseph College. As an intern at Literae Interactive, she developed and maintained web sites for various non profits and human rights organizations. Her past internships have included the Connecticut Civil Liberties Union, the Broad-Park Development Corporation, and the Caring Families Coalition. |
