In July 2001, Congressman Dennis Kucinich introduced legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives that would establish a United States Department of Peace, a proposed cabinet-level department with a Secretary of Peace reporting directly to the President of the United States. Since that time, a national grassroots campaign has grown in support of this legislation, and in support of an idea whose time has come. See About the Legislation and About the Campaign for more information. We invite you to our First Annual Northeast Conference as we support the establishment of a cabinet level Department of Peace, as well as local initiatives for peace in our communities. We come together to support each other, to learn more about lobbying, nonviolent communication and to hear from elected officials. We also come together to relax and have fun.
