Camp Info and Rules
- Check In: Arrive between 4-6PM Friday for registration, which will be in St. Luke's Lodge. Straight ahead from main parking lot. Room assignments will be given at that time and you can pay your registration balance.
- Check Out: By 4PM Sunday
- Parking: You may drive to main camp buildings or cabins to unload (following check in). After unloading, the camp requests that vehicles be moved to the parking area by the camp office or the larger parking area at the entrance to the camp, by the maintenance barn. SPEED LIMIT on camp property is 5 miles per hour.
- Facility Use: Please use only the meeting and lodging space reserved for our conference.
- There are personal dwellings also on the property of which we need to be considerate.
- Labyrinth & walking trails are available for our use.
- Meals: Home cooked meals, baked goods and desserts. Meals are served buffet style in the dining hall at specific times (will be supplied at check in). If you have special dietary needs, please let Lynn Ellis know (lellis@mainedop.org, 207-779-7351) at least 2 weeks prior to conference. Meals will be primarily vegetarian. Let Lynn know if you have a vegan diet or some other specific needs.
- Quiet Hours: Quiet hours from 10PM to 8AM in respect for all guests and neighbors of the camp
- Telephones: Most cell phones don't work at the camp. People can reach you in an emergency by calling 508-248-7811
- Swimming/Fishing: There are fish in the pond. You may bring your own fishing equipment. Any fish taken out of the pond must be put back in. Swimming is NOT allowed in the pond.
- Smoking: There is no smoking inside any of the buildings. Please smoke on the porch of the dining hall and the rec hall, the deck of St. Luke's lodge.
- Pets: Only service animals please.
- Alcohol/Drugs: No alcohol or drugs on the property. There are taverns/inns within 10 miles of the camp.
Directions To Bement:
Note: Google and Mapquest directions are incorrect and not specific enough when you get close to the camp! Use them to get in the vacinity, then follow the directions below.

From the Worcester area:
Take route 290 to the Charlton Route 20 west exit. This will put you on route 20, which you will follow in a westerly direction. In about 7-8 miles, you will come to a stop light in Charlton where route 31 intersects with route 20. Turn right onto route 31, heading north towards Spencer.
*You will follow route 31 for about 2 miles at which point you will come to a stop sign. "Ronnie's Clam Bar" will be on your right hand side. Go straight across the street and you will see a red, white, and blue sign saying "The Episcopal Church Welcomes You." Go straight until you see a white farm house right in front of you. Turn left at this point and continue on this road. In about 100 yards, bear left over a small railroad bridge. Continue on this road and you will come to the entrance to Bement on your left. There is a large sign so don't turn until you see it.
From the Sturbridge Area:
Get on Route 20 east and continue to Charlton (about 6 miles). When you come to the traffic light at the junction of route 31 and route 20, turn left on route 31 and follow the Worcester directions from the point of the asterisk.
From Hartford:
Take route 84 east towards Boston. The next to last exit before reaching the Mass Pike will put you on route 20 east in Sturbridge. At this point pick up the directions from Sturbridge.
From Route 9 (Spencer):
Turn right on route 31 south as you pass Cumberland Farms and John’s Pizza. Continue for 5 1/4 miles until you see "Ronnie's Clam Bar." You are now about 1 mile from Bement. You will see the sign for route 31 south pointing to the right. Take an immediate left at this point and you will be on H.K. Davis Road. Go straight until the fork and bear left. You are now on Jones Road. Continue until you see the Bement Center sign on your left.
Directions on the Mass Pike (from Boston or east of Worcester):
Take Mass Pike to the Auburn exit and follow signs to route 20 West (you will get on route 12 to get to route 20). Once on route 20 west pick up directions from Worcester.
Directions on the Mass Pike (from Springfield or west of Worcester):
Take the Mass Pike to the Sturbridge exit and follow signs to route 20 East. Once on route 20 east follow directions from Sturbridge.
